Samantha’s Review of Komune Resort & Beach Club Bali
Created as the go-to place for surfers and their partners, Komune Resort & Beach Club launched in Bali in 2012 following on from the success of its sister property on the Gold Coast of Australia. Komune overlooks the famous Keramas reef break on Bali’s beautiful East Coast and has evolved to encompass all the wellness aspects you would expect on an active holiday including the Health Hub…
What an amazing place! Definitely a ten stars holiday! I honestly don’t think you can get this kind of service anywhere else in the world. I would go back in a heartbeat!

I had an amazing and relaxing time at Komune Resort. I loved the fact that everything was included and I didn’t need to worry about anything! Nicole, the yoga teacher, was the best teacher I have ever met! I could organise my time around the classes and it was simply amazing. I will recommend Komune to all my friends!

I visited Komune for a Fitness Retreat recently and have to say that it well and truly surpassed expectations. It is a very new programmes for Komune but rather than this being a negative, it meant that the wonderful staff were even more accommodating than usual.
I was able to have more one on one time with the personal trainer and yoga instructors as well as enjoy the group training sessions as per normal. There were a great range of gym classes and the facilities were first rate. The lap pool at the health hub was a rarely used gem as families were encouraged to use the pool near the beach. There were five yoga types taught throughout my stay with the highlight being Fly High; a relatively new type but instructed by a pro. Since getting home, their take home gym and yoga programmes have been worth their weight in gold.
Thanks for all your help in booking the holiday, it was a great experience and I have definitely come home feeling fitter, healthier and leaner! The food was amazing, just what I eat at home but so much better - never felt too full! There were protein shakes as well - made with protein powder which was definitely a bonus!
The exercise classes were really good, and I organised 2 extra PT sessions a day with Mark. He videoed some of my sessions which meant I could remember them and do them myself. He also gave me an excellent take home program which I have already started and I feel really good.
Great facilities including dedicated yoga pavilion, gym, and wide variety of wining and dining options including healthy choices. The staff are wonderfully helpful, attentive and professional. Yoga classes and massage therapy are excellent as is quality of beauty treatments. I loved sleeping in a super comfy bed to the sound of the surf and having great espresso coffee at 6am while watching the colourful sunrise over the ocean. The large rain showers is a treat. My only niggle was the very low lighting in the room - a desk lamp would be welcome but the free auto-connect wifi was fast. As an older woman alone, I never felt lonely because of the welcoming happy supportive staff. The beach club and health club areas are a great idea offering very different experiences. I spent a week at Komune to de-stress and came home totally relaxed and rejuvenated. Common is ethical with green initiatives and cultural respect for staff and local communities so no guilt needed about exploitation of the Balinese culture and environment. I will definitely return.
