Top 8 Healthy Drinks for Weight Loss

If you're looking to watch your weight there are so many healthy drinks that can help aid weight loss, simply by drinking them you can feel fuller than if you had drunk a fizzy drink, which can help stop snacking during the day.

See our top 8 healthy drinks for weight loss:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

This can feel like a very strange thing to drink but a small amount every day is actually extremely good for you.  Apple Cider Vinegar has become very popular to help weight loss and to reduce the risk of diabetes. Holistic practitioner Toby Maguire from The BodyHoliday in St. Lucia recommends apple cider vinegar as a super food, find out more: Insider Interview with Toby Maguire.

2. Fruit Juices

Fruit is full of vitamin C and with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice you are not just eating one orange but more like 4 or 5. So try and have a glass a morning to help rid your body of viruses and boost your immune system.

3. Vegetable Juices

Vegetable juice is an extremely good drink to have and if possible swap with fruit juices because a glass of carrot juice will have half the calories as a glass of orange juice. Vegetables are full of nutrients and rich in fibre so will help you feel full up for longer. So in the morning juice together your favourites for a healthy morning beverage.

4. Smoothies

For a lovely, thick fruity treat in the morning mix up a combination of your favourite fruits in a blender with some skimmed milk (or even soya or coconut milk can be added). You get a good morning boost of vitamin C, but remember don't add extra sugar or honey as this can add a lot of calories.

5. Milk

Having skimmed or semi-skimmed milk with your cereal or as a glass in the morning with your breakfast will help the breakdown of fats and carbohydrates in the body. It is also a good source of vitamin b2 (riboflavin) which is great for healthy skin, hair and nails.

6. Water

Good old water is probably the healthiest drink as water makes up 60% of the body's content. Water helps you feel full, so it is always good to have a glass by you when you eat dinner as drinking it will help you realise when you are full. Water also boosts your metabolism to help with weight loss and the best thing is it contains zero calories.

7. Herbal Teas

Green and white tea are extremely healthy because they contain no calories but also have excellent health benefits. Green tea contains a nutrient called EGCG which is a very powerful antioxidant that inhibits the growth of cancer cells, killing them without harming any of our bodies' healthy tissue. White tea has a very different taste to green tea and for some people is not as kind on the pallet, but it does have less caffeine and higher concentrates of antioxidants so it is considered healthier. A glass of green or white tea is said to contain 12 times more antioxidants then a glass of orange juice.

8. Black Coffee

Black coffee has many health benefits as it contains lots of antioxidants which can help your mood, metabolism and concentration and can also reduce the risk of cancer and diabetes. Best of all it has no calories so you can drink it and feel full up without having taken in the amount of calories you would have if you had milk with it.
